Since the early days of the concept of vertical flight around the early 1900's the ideas of the designers and the aviators have been jointly developed into the modern day helicopter industry. From the single engine machine to the triple engine variants of today, the helicopter has become an acceptable form of safe transportation.
Generations of helicopters have followed the VS-300 model, which lifted a few feet into the air in September of 1939. Military contracts followed in 1943 and have continued to play a major role in the rapid developments of rotary winged aircraft. The versatility of the machines were quickly appreciated by Army, Naval and Air Forces throughout the world.
