AS AN AID TO MANAGEMENT OF SAFE OPERATIONS
The members of the Society of International Gas Tanker & Terminal Operators Limited (SIGTTO) have many decades of worldwide experience in the safe handling of flammable and toxic liquefied gases. By publishing recommendations and guidance for consideration by Operators, they have sought to assist the industry to establish uniform standards so that gas tankers trading to different ports can expect to find consistent operations.
These guidelines provide gas tanker and terminal Operators with a well-tried and proven system to aid the management of safe operations in a cost-effective manner. Existing publications are primarily addressed to chemical process design and specification for new plant. These guidelines are addressed to the Operators of existing gas tankers and terminals and go straight to these questions - "How may a release of flammable of toxic liquefied gas or vapour occur, how serious may the consequences be how may the release be prevented?"
