The eighth edition of "Brown's Flags and Funnels" has been completely revised to give a representative selection of the markings of the world's merchant fleets at the beginning of the 'eighties. There is a comprehensive index, and a key to the arrangement of illustrations by colour, to facilitate easy reference. Several pages of blank flags and funnels are included for the addition of new items when seen.
The pace of change in world shipping is now so rapid that existing markings are constantly being altered or deleted, and new ones added, faster than any publication can cope with. Where alterations were known at the time of going to press, these are included in the Notes and Corrigenda.
