The purpose of the SPM Hose System Design Commentary is to provide common descriptive terminology for industry and to outline disign practices related to various types of SPM Hose Systems. It is also the intent of the Commentary to alert the SPM designer and operator of particular operating requirements and design conditions, which could affect the overall satisfactory operations of the SPM facility.
This "Commentary", while written to reflect present industry parctice, is not intended to preclude the use of new designs or techniques which can be demonstrated to be an improvement over present practices. It should be noted that this publication does not include all of the special conditions that might be encountered, nor is it intended to do so. Because of the continual change of the "Art", it is demonstrated that this "Commentary" needs to be modified on a frequent basis. Its use therefore must be restricted and systems/methods be thoroughly evaluated before implementation.
